We're officially beyond the so called “first week of spring”. On my part of the world (Southern Ontario, Canada in the Muskoka cottage country area), yes, that is where I made my home for almost a year now), I have been told that we had more snow and more colder temperature than normal and to tell you the truth, since I was not used to it, as I do my daily 4 KM walk on the walking trail across my home, I still have to wear winter coat and gloves and have to walk briskly or I freeze haha, so in truth, I must say, hasn't felt like spring outside at all except from the great sun shine we had the last few days, witch I love it (if you are interested , right now at 8 am, the outside temperature is C 14 below zero and I have my fireplace going to keep the great room cozy and comfortable at C 26 degree).
For the last 10 months it has not been fun to be here since this cottage was a summer ONLY cottage, and I took the task to make it year around home by first rip apart all walls and insulate them, installed all new windows and doors, new roof, lots of insulation everywhere, plus, we made it bigger by adding a large bedroom (12’X12’), two bathrooms that included a laundry facility, new wood siding outside, covering all around the whole home upstairs and of course, added a new garage attached to the home to use it mostly in the winter when it is really cold and snowing... well, you may say that we re-done the whole thing from top to bottom and inside and out and now it is not just a small cottage in the country side, it is a comfortable year around lovely home on the Severn river ready to be enjoyed to the fullest and we will.
So now back to the “first week of spring” topic, we were saying that what made it feel like spring were all of the new developments and projects gaining speed here at my home office. While I am not one to rest in the winter, (as noted above, I did not, since I keep busy finish up the interior of my new home) I often look forward for spring to get into what matter most and that is to forget the past winter and move forward with zest in all parts of my life, physical, emotional and spiritual.
Renewing goals, coming up with new ideas and reviving long term vision and mission in life keep me busy and after the thaw, when most people (like me) feel a renewed energy during the longer daylight hours, I believe it is the best time of the year since the sprig feeling is evident mostly in nature with longer days, clear skies, fresher air, new sap coming out from maple trees, green grass appearing here and there, some flowers and of course birds singing everywhere.
Ok, ok enough about me, how about you? Are you starting to feel the benefits of more hours and warmer weather? If you live in parts of the Southern States of North America and other warm climate parts of the world, the weather change may not be as noticeable as up here in the north, but I trust that you still benefit from the longer days, aren’t you?
If you have a spare moment write a comment...here: http://bit.ly/hRyTMk and for sure it will be helpful for me and for others.
In many parts of the world, just as it is here, January 1st is normally the big day for resolutions and as we know, most of those resolutions never get to be carried out... correct? However, even if most of them are carried out, I do not believe that is enough. Most of the so called January 1st resolutions tend to be left unfulfilled and forgotten within a few days; few weeks later and sometime within a few hours (please correct me if I am wrong here). So, if you are in any of these situations, why not start to make your own personal and unique spring resolution?
The papers are still screaming bad news at us each morning, all kinds of bad news because that is how they make more money, promoting what ever bad news they can gather every where. If you pay attention, even the local small local publication, reach out and share bad news from far away countries, just to attract attention to their readers... tell me, a local newspaper that is supposed to keep abreast with local news, why in the world go out and send all kinds of bad news from around the world?
I am one who cares for what ever happen in the world and do my very best here at home to make this world a better place... and I have a firm believe that by taking care of our own world around us, eventually the whole world, the whole planet will benefit... hope you feel the same and as I say above, please comment any time you feel like, I am always open for other people views and comments.
As we are bombarded with bad news every where (I do not read much news papers nor listen to news on a regular basis, so I am sorry if this shock you but I find this to work better for me in my life and hope others do the same because in the long run I trust it is much better).
What we often are bombarded lately is destruction everywhere, yes, I feel sorry for the Japanese people who perished in the latest earthquake and tsunami and the sufferings of the ones who survived and their families, I care about other worldly disasters and the suffering of all living beings, not only human but also the animal and the plant kingdom, but at the same time I took time to observe, study, learn and research what may be the cause of all these disasters and now deep down in my soul, I am at peace since I come to understand the root cause and hope others do the same, including people who have been affected the most.
Going back to the news, we are bombarded with other news such as massive layoffs or the huge bonus payouts to big shots head of corporations, and believe me, there is plenty of bad news and non sense news than is enough to distract and worry you, hope together we will make this world much better to live soon... before it is to late and if that time come, then there is no hope because we will not have a planet to live in.
Coming back to reality; I like to share with you that self development has been part of my life for ages, I keep some notes, mind you they are not very neat nor organized, but they are notes that helps me to recall events of the past and that is enough for me and as I was sorting some books and papers out of the many boxes piled-up full of stuff that I accumulated over the years and now decided to sort them out and donate what it is not necessary for me at this stage of my life and hope others can make good use.
The recent move to the cottage country have manifested after many years of debating of go or not go...and one reason was so I can downsize and simplify life as best as I know how according to my knowledge, experience and know how.
As I was going through the many un-opened boxes of stuff that I moved up here, the other day I read a note from a old note book, that was dated February 1978 (yes, if you are not aware, I just turned 65 last month so I have been around for a while), and that re-enforced my deep feeling for my new spring resolutions and for the record I do not allow the bad news bother me in any way (when ever some of it sneak up on me). As everyone, I too have goals, short term and long term, that some how will effect my self in many ways, and also include my immediate family that I care so much, my friends and everyone else who is part of the team for uplifting the world consciousness in any way possible so our children, grand children and generations to come can experience the world at it’s best.
Sticking to those goals, dreams, visions, missions and continuing to develop new ways to help us all get more out of life are what I focus on every moment of my day. I truly believe that if we let the bad news get us down, well, for certain no one will benefit and no one want to read notes as the above written by me or anyone else with constructive intentions... and by not focusing on the positive, (we have a choice at all times, either chose to focus on the positive or the negative, God give us the choice and when the time come, it’s up to us, no one else can do it for us, no one) for sure it will be a loss for everyone..
This weekend, here have been sunny and cool, so I choose to spend some time outdoors enjoying some spring weather. Indoor was just fine as well, since I spent time reading, meditating and working on my goals and dreams. Worked on personal choices for what matter most at this time (God, Health, Family, and marketing), and did my very best to finish all the tasks I set out for my self and in no way allowed any bad news distract me...
My hope is that my kids, grand kids and others have followed my example and now everyone continue to have a wonderful week, fabulous month and excellent years, even if this means ignoring the bed news that is pushed into our faces from all direction... because there is plenty of good news every where.
Sincerely,
nick catricala, cvc
