Nikola Tesla had ONE main reason for building the Wardenclyffe tower, he did not disclose his REAL reason to his financial backers as JP Morgan and others who provided funding for the project.

Tesla was determined to prove that it was possible and practical to transmit electrical energy without the need for power lines. Not only had Tesla proved that electrical energy could be transmitted through the air but also that it could be harnessed and transmitted through the whole planet earth.

J P Morgan and other investors could not envision how the power consumption could be metered and how they would be able to make any profit from providing free electricity to everyone. This was why JP Morgan withdrew his funding and he also discouraged others from backing Nikola Tesla's project.

The purpose of the 200 foot Tesla Tower at Shoreham, Long Island, was to feed tremendous electric currents into planet earth for transmit over long distances. Tesla had successfully transmitted enough power around the globe to light several hundred incandescent lamps, and proved that power generated in the industrial sector could be transmitted to any distance with an efficiency as high as ninety-nine and a half per cent.

The local residents of Shoreham called it Tesla's Tower and told that Tesla would hurl thunderbolts into the earth. The tower was in fact a magnifying transmitter that Tesla used to feed electric power into the earth.

Tesla himself stated that people generally identify his Magnifying transmitter with lightening and thunder but in reality operated silently. He said that there was no "halo of escaping electric flames" and that if you were standing within 100 feet of the tower you may notice small sparks and you could feel your skin prickling.

There is more to this invention that we may never know, what we know now is that over all other means of creating electricity is damaging to everyone, our pockets and as in the explosion of the atomic energy station in Japan is threatening the whole earth in some ways.
